My father had a stroke and was in the ICU for three days. During that stay, Michelle was very compassionate and caring. She helped my sister and me cope with our difficult situation of accepting my father's condition. Her care for us, along with the manner that she treated my father was way above what I would expect even of the best nurses. We honestly feel like we had a very close and dear friend tending to my father.

I will forever remember her for the manner in which she cared for my father. All nurses could take a lesson from her. As I read the criteria for the DAISY Award, I could name specific instances for each piece of criteria that this nurse displayed, even exceeded, during my father's stay. Going to Hospice was a letdown from the care and compassion that we received in the ICU.
