As a 70-year-old veteran, I was visiting my local VA clinic as part of an annual checkup and I complained of shortness of breath and tiredness which I attributed to having had COVID as well as being older. I was not having a heart attack. I was referred to ANCP Rewa for an examination. I have a history of a certain disease but I was surprised by the extent of the examination, the team she brought together, and the further tests she ordered, thinking that her concerns were overblown. Long story short, I ended up going through a nearly six months-long process that led me to a specialist, and it turns out that I have a terminal disease that is found in fewer than 1% of society. Undiagnosed, I might have only six months to live. The specialist, without knowing Ms. Rewa, complimented her on her astuteness. With medication and proper care, my life has been extended for potentially seven more years. I could not be more grateful.
