The laboratory staffs one tech per shift on the weekends. Sometimes this can get very hectic on a busy day. This particular Saturday, I was having a very busy time between the ED, Inpatients and Outpatients. There was a patient on the floor who was waiting on a blood draw before his discharge. I had spoken with Michelle and informed her it may be a while before I could get down to the floor to draw this patient. Michelle offered to take the blood tubes and draw the patient for me. She drew it and delivered it to the lab. The patient was then discharged promptly. To me, this shows that Michelle not only cares about her patients but is also a team player. She was willing to go the extra mile to help a co-worker out AND had her patient’s best interest at heart. This shows that she is a true professional who demonstrates quality, respect, and service to her patients and co-workers. Michelle you are true ‘DAISY’! Thank you!!!
