I'm a patient on 4 West and I want to speak about my nurse Michelle. I'm here and waiting on unexpected surgery. She is so sweet and goes above and beyond to see that I've been ok, out of pain and remaining calm. I don't have family to be with me and she has made me very calm. She's made this bearable.
Any questions or concerns I've had, she answered and explained to me in great detail. She's really easy to talk to and has calmed me down so much. I was ready to sign myself out and go home and just deal with the pain. She talked to me and made me understand that this could be life threatening. I just wanted to go home, and she made me understand and stay. She's so sweet and has a wonderful personality and the smile on her face is always there. Michelle definitely made me feel better and know things are going to be ok. If it wasn't for her I'd be home, not sitting here waiting on surgery in the morning. She may have even saved my life. She's a great nurse. I'm scared to death and she's kept my head on straight and calm. She's very knowledgeable and that makes a difference…
Written by the same patient 2 days later… My stay here on 4 West was scary and confusing and I felt lost and alone. My family is with my 3-year-old grandchild who is in hospice care. I wanted to sign out and leave to be with them. I want to thank Michelle for keeping me here. I had my surgery and I cannot express enough how they brought me back to sanity and reality. I was treated like family, not just another fly-by-night patient. I'm in the medical field and have not come by more understanding, empathetic, and caring individuals. You can tell this is passion not just a paycheck with them. Anything I asked was answered and anything I needed was promptly provided. In all my years of health problems, I have never written one of these but please note that this comes from my heart and my family's as well. I'm not able to fully express this without crying. Michelle is an amazing nurse and touched my heart deeply, very deeply.
