December 2022 Honoree
Michelle Skaggs, RN, BSN, CWCN
P has been a patient in Wound Care for several years. Over and over, Michelle exhibits extraordinary care beyond her job description. Twice this year, she has performed emergency care for him including today. We came in from home where his wound had started to bleed, but hemorrhaging by our arrival. She stopped the bleeding, bandaged the wound, and monitored his vitals immediately.
A month ago at his visit, she recognized he was displaying symptoms of congestive heart failure and immediately rendered aid. She contacted the doctor immediately and prepped him for the doctor who admitted him immediately from the Wound Center. There have also been two times when he was on a floor, but we reached out to Michelle for particular wound care. She always knows the issue, how to treat and solve all wound problems, and problems that derive further from wound emergencies. She knows how to calm him down when he is nervous and his family also. We are lucky to have this entire crew available to the community. We can't rave about Michelle enough. Thank you.
