Michelle Taylor was taking care of a gentleman whose wife was a patient on the sixth
floor. Michelle knew his wife was very sick and arranged with the M.D, for the patient to visit his wife. Michelle wheeled her patient upstairs for a visit. Soon she found out that the patient’s wife was given a poor prognosis and hospice was consulted. Not knowing if the wife was going to make it or if this would be the last time the husband would see his wife, Michelle went the extra mile and opened her heart to this situation. She transported her patient upstairs multiple times during the day to make sure the patient was with his wife. Michelle allowed him to provide love to his wife while she still took care of her patient. She only requested he return to the unit for medication and assessment times. She took his lunch to the unit where his wife was so he could be with her. The patient was transported back and forth several times during the day and Michelle did not see this as extraordinary. Michelle consistently goes above and beyond for patient care and really puts a true meaning of extraordinary in patient and family care.
