Michelle is an extraordinary asset to the Surgery Center and stands out as a true balance between professionalism and a nurturing and very caring heart.
I have PTSD, severe medical anxiety, because of two medical errors in my past. Due to a miscommunication along the line somewhere, I arrived at the Surgery Center for my procedure, expecting that my husband would be able to accompany me in the prep area and in recovery because of my issues. I was told at the front desk that that was not going to happen per their protocols. No one was allowed beyond that point but patients, and my husband would have to wait for me outside the reception area. I was extremely upset but had the choice of starting over or trying to keep my PTSD, panic disorder at bay on my own and proceeding with the procedure.

Michelle stepped into that void for me. She was warm, empathetic, compassionate, very reassuring, and although she was busy with what she had to do to prepare me for my procedure, she took the time to show genuine concern, caring, and interest in me as an individual and what had happened to me in the past. Her calm, supportive presence and demeanor kept me focused on getting through what I needed to do. And she made sure that I got a wonderful "mama bear" hug and an obviously beautiful smile from behind her mask as I was leaving. Michelle is an extraordinary asset to the Surgery Center and stands out as a true balance between professionalism and a nurturing and very caring heart. She was the glue that held me together so that I could manage getting my procedure done. I am extremely grateful and feel very, very fortunate that she was there to care for me that day.

Note: This is Michelle's 2nd DAISY Award!
