Michelle truly exemplifies dedication and compassion in her role as a nurse. This nurse’s commitment to education and support undoubtedly contributes to better health and outcomes and higher quality of life for her patients. This nurse carries a very diverse caseload, and she treats each patient equally with dignity and respect. I particularly recall a situation where Michelle was looking through emails on her day off and saw that there was a call from her patient regarding an issue with his catheter. She knew that her patient was in pain. In the office, we were scrambling to find a nurse to get to this patient as soon as possible to relieve his pain. When we received a call from this nurse, she said, "Just send me the visit. I don’t want him to be in pain, and I can get to him much quicker than anyone else." Putting her patient’s needs above her own time off speaks volumes about her commitment to providing exceptional care. The DAISY Award is a fitting acknowledgment of her exceptional care and commitment to her patient’s well-being.
