The ambulance brought my dad to the ER here at Medical City North Hills; the emergency room staff handled my dad very well. He was disoriented and difficult to deal with at that time with his altered mental state.
They got him admitted, assessed and moved over to the ICU in a very good amount of time. It was late at night and A from ICU came and was very helpful in getting my dad from the ER and set up and settled in the ICU, which at that time my dad was still disoriented and almost combative. I was grateful that my dad had the same night and day nurses for the days he was in the ICU, it helped him feel more secure with the staff.
We were beyond thankful for the care he received from the day RN Michelle in ICU; she was able to get things out of my dad that no other medical staff has ever been able to get from him as he has a severe aversion of hospitals and being hospitalized. I am so grateful to Michelle especially for helping my dad feel comfortable and at ease and not try to run from the hospital as can be his way. He did want to check himself out AMA as he often does but she helped him understand why procedures were needed also was so great in helping him with situations that he would usually have been so embarrassing it confusing for him. She handled him with great care and compassion which I could tell in the way he was so comfortable with her which he does not do unless he likes a person and feels comfortable with them. Thanks for making this hospital stay as best as I could have been.
