The ability to educate without conveying offense is a remarkable talent that Ms. Tusa has, and she demonstrated this rare ability when she went over the instructions for medications and follow up post-discharge. She explained how decreased kidney function can allow fluids to build up in the tissues and lead to oxygen deficiency, which brought us to the hospital. She and the doctor explained ways to monitor fluid buildup at home and hopefully keep us from readmission in the future.
They were exceedingly direct and forthcoming about medical conditions and treatment alternatives, and both very willing to respond to questions. It is my firm belief that the cooperative effort of patients and professionals is the only way cost-effective and desired medical outcomes will be achieved and I am very grateful to Ms. Tusa. I commend her as an outstanding example of the nursing profession.
