Michelle is the back bone of the night shift ED team. In addition for caring for her patients, she cares for the physicians, nurses and ancillary staff on the night shift. She is a resource to the ED staff and helps ensure compliance of EMTALA, policies and safety processes. Recently at shift change, Michelle reported to me that one of the patients had left before disposition. The physician left a message with her before he left for the night. Michelle persisted with making sure the patient returned to be seen for her serious condition and made sure to pass this on to the day shift for continuity of care. This is just one of many examples of how Michelle puts her patients first above all else.
