Mickey was nominated by the wife of a patient who had surgery during the COVID pandemic. They arrived on the unit during the 7p shift. Both were hungry but choices were limited. The wife was very anxious, and the lack of food was a breaking point for her. Mickey walked her to a vending machine. While she was making her selection, Mickey obtained two box lunches from an employee event and gave them to her. She was very appreciative. She stated, "it had been a very stressful day and he went above and beyond to help me and calm me down. He came to my rescue and was an angel in disguise." She nominated Mickey for his outstanding care, compassion, and going the extra mile! She added as a P.S., "Mickey was not even our assigned nurse!"
