MICU Team James A. Haley VA Hospital, RNs and more

The MICU staff performed an ultimate act of kindness by arranging a bedside wedding. The couple had wedding plans set for summer, but due to an unforeseen and worsening change in medical condition, those plans changed. Audrey Pevec, interim Nurse Manager of MICU and party planner extraordinaire, got wind of the bedside wedding needing to happen and feverishly started making telephone calls to staff to change this possibility to an absolute. The MICU staff chipped in and provided flowers for the bride, decorations and a special cake knife commemorating the couple's special day. The dieticians on the unit stepped up to the plate and provided a beautiful wedding cake. Audrey also worked with the staff Chaplain to ensure their minister was able to perform the ceremony at the bedside. In less than 24 hours, the MICU staff came together to provide a day of love that the couple with always cherish.
