Miguel Ortiz-Castro, Student Nurse

Miguel worked with an elderly female patient this week that came to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. Upon workup, the differential came back with possible cholecystitis or more probably gall bladder cancer. The patient was there by herself when hearing the news and most of the time we were in the clinical setting. Miguel spent a great deal of time with her just listening to her and controlling the pain she was having. She was so touched by the added attention he gave her that she actually used the recognition card that the hospital provides for patients to recognize the staff and recognized and appreciated the job that he did.
