My daughter had a procedure in the night. My daughter had not received her CAT scan until earlier. Finally, the surgeon who was wonderful, decided to do surgery that night. I was alone while she had surgery. That night she had a lot of pain when getting to pediatrics. All the nurses were great but one stood out! After the day shift second night, Mika came on. She immediately bonded with us. She and my daughter hit it off. She always smiled and was always there!
Mika knew how sick she was. The second night my daughter had felt extra swollen to hands and feet. Mika did her nightly weight, noted she had gained multiple pounds. She wasn't breathing well and her oxygen sat was lowering and her surgical drains were draining a lot of fluid. Mika caught this so quick and called the surgeon in the night and caught her going in fluid overload! Mika didn't waste any time and got her a chest X-ray for a diagnosis. Mika is an amazing and compassionate nurse and takes care of her patients as if it was her own child. My daughter had so much pain and Mika made sure she got help and relief. I'm an RN nurse myself but a mom first! I never had to worry when Mika was there. We will never forget this. My daughter almost became septic and was so sick.
