Giving birth for the first time is such a special experience. But when labor comes slow, hard and painful, it becomes unnerving and scary. One particular mother-to-be experience began with the contractions spanning two days – not ready to deliver, the patient was sent home twice. But as the saying goes, the third time’s a charm … and this time the patient was admitted and paired with her Labor and Delivery nurse, Mikaela Martin.
Mikaela was the perfect nurse needed to help this patient through. “She seemed to sense my fears and worry … she did a wonderful job talking to me, comforting me and putting my mind at ease … she constantly reassured me that I was strong enough to handle the labor … she said I could do it!” the nominator shared. “I truly believe that without Mikaela at my side I would have given up physically and emotionally, and that would have meant a C-section. I will never forget giving birth to my son, nor will I forget the wonderful, professional nurse, Mikaela, who helped him come into the world.”
