My story is about how nurse Mikayla Hartmann turned my entire day, which had so far been a comedy of errors, into something memorable. I had called the clinic and told them I would be right in for a blood draw. 45 minutes later, due to multiple issues I arrived hoping that I could still get in. I was able to visit with a doctor briefly and get checked in. I sit for a minute when Mikayla calls me. She is excited to see me, and I am excited to see her. “This is fun” she says as we head back to the lab and then tells me “It isn’t just a CMP, we need a urine sample as well.” I replied that I would try, and Mikayla responds, “That’s what I like to hear!” So, the CMP gets drawn in my left arm because oddly enough I had a blood draw earlier that day at another facility in the other arm. So, I am wearing bandage wraps on both arms. Next comes the dreaded urine sample. Well, my luck was changing, and it went smoothly. I handed the sample to Mikayla, and she thanked me. I ask “Wait…. Did you just thank me for handing you my pee?” Mikayla, without skipping a beat, says yes, and that she finds doing things like labs is one of her favorite things. I loved the enthusiasm. Mikayla really helped reset a bad day by being so great and cheerful. I had so much fun, which is not typical of a visit to get labs drawn. Everyone at the Wisconsin Heights Clinic is so great.

Thank you, Mikayla, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
