Mikayla Morganthaler, BSN, RN
Mikayla Morgenthaler is one of those nurses who leaves a lasting impact on everyone around her. She has been recognized by patients, families, peers, and physicians countless times for her exceptional nursing care, leadership, and compassion.
As a charge nurse, Mikayla consistently leads by example, willingly taking on the sickest and most complex patients while supporting her team. She is one of the highest-performing nurses; she is highly receptive to feedback, and she has tremendous potential as a future nurse leader.
Her clinical expertise has been recognized by physicians. Both have expressed admiration for her nursing judgment, leadership, and ability to care for critically ill patients. She is the nurse physicians want to work with, peers want beside them, and leaders are grateful to have on their team.
Most notably, Dr. N highlighted the extraordinary care Mikayla provided to two critically ill patients during the same shift. One patient passed away, and the other, a young patient requiring a massive transfusion protocol, also passed later that day. Through these heartbreaking circumstances, Mikayla provided exceptional care, comfort, and support to both patients and their families.
What makes Mikayla truly special is her compassion. The loss of both patients affected her deeply because she genuinely cared. In a profession that can sometimes make people numb to loss, Mikayla continues to lead with empathy, humanity, and heart.
