I was seen in the East ED in the evening. While the surgery was routine and not necessarily life-threatening, the anxiety brought on by going under the knife with general anesthesia can be overbearing. When I discovered I would need emergency surgery, my wife and children were at an activity and were unaware. Mike sought to relieve the anxiety by allowing my wife to see me (unfortunately she left thinking she was not allowed to visit) but his efforts deserve my sincere respect and gratitude.
When the surgery was canceled Mike went out of his way to bring me a meal before I was sent to the floor so I would have a meal before the midnight cut off. He went above and beyond as did ALL the nurses I came in contact with at Eastside.
