Mike is our early morning lead in the Heart and Vascular Center. He comes in before sunrise to make sure we are all set up and prepared to give our patients the best care possible that day. Our department performs procedures that cause stress and anxiety to the patient due to the "fear of the unknown" as to what a heart cath will be like. This is where Mike shines! He is energetic, caring, intelligent, funny, and puts his patients at ease!
One example of a satisfied patient is a high risk 93-year-old woman who was in for heart cath. This woman knew that her age played a factor for the risks involved and Mike helped to alleviate those fears with his kind demeanor. The patient had no complications and went home to celebrate her birthday just days later.
In a follow-up, Mike remembered to wish her a special happy birthday and this meant the world to our patient. He truly listens, gets to know, and remembers what is special about each patient. The patient stated "although Dr. P did my procedure, Mike touched my heart".
