In 2018, our lives changed forever. As the wonderful Emergency Room physician, Dr. Y, came into my husband's ER room to deliver the devastating news that my husband had "inoperable pancreatic cancer" - our world stopped! Tears flowed, but the intense pain was eased by the wonderful ER nursing staff. Then Dr. Y told us he was going to admit my husband to the hospital that evening so they could do a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. After the attendant wheeled my 66-year-old husband to his room, an angel walked into his room. Her name was Mikka! Her smile lit up the room as she said she was going to take really good care of him! Oh, how she did. If I needed anything, from someone to listen, or for a cup of ice for my husband, Mikka (and her beautiful smile), was there for us! I wanted to recommend Mikka for this award simply because Mikka's smile was sweeter than a daisy! Her generous, loving, compassionate heart was pure joy!
