Earlier this year my daughter was Care Flighted to the ICU unit due to RSV, adenovirus and pneumonia. While we were in ICU Mikka went above and beyond to make my 16 week old, as well as my husband and me as comfortable as possible. Her willingness to make others feel at ease and happy shows that she is doing exactly what she is called to do! Her integrity and compassion were shown every time she walked through the door. She constantly gave updates and explained everything in a manner that was calming and honest. In the two shifts that we were blessed to have this nurse as our nurse she treated us like we were family in her own home. She made sure that we were all comfortable and happy, from finding a mobile to attach to the lights, to the hugs when we had to say goodbye! Mikka is a phenomenal nurse and deserves the DAISY Award!

Mikka is the only night nurse I have had that I truly 100% trust with my kid. We have been in ICU for almost a month now and she is the best night nurse we have had. She is very upbeat and always happy. She always makes sure my daughter is happy and well cared for. She goes beyond her duty as a nurse. She is loving and caring and shows a respect for my whole family that few others do. She buys my child things out of her own pocket and shows a compassion for our plight and my child's condition. We have been coming to this hospital for 19 months now and Mikka along with a day nurse, have touched our family in ways I can't adequately express. My child lights up when one of them comes in the room as is upset when they are not here. I sleep better at night knowing that she is here watching my child even though I'm only a few steps away I know she is well taken care of when Mikka is her nurse. I will never forget that level of care we have received from theses two nurses; it surpasses anything I have ever seen.
