In preparation for discharge, J had brought a car seat in from home and was excited to complete the car seat challenge that evening. Mila was Baby W's nurse. Mila evaluated the car seat before placing W in it and identified that the seat was outdated and not safe for discharge. J shared that she was so disappointed and didn't know what she was going to do. She had minimal financial resources and couldn't afford to go buy another car seat.
Mila is a compassionate nurse and immediately started to problem solve. J shared that Mila knew of someone in her family who had a car seat that was not outdated and would be safe for W to use and the family member was no longer using the seat. Mila called the family member and shared the need with them. She then had her husband go get the car seat and brought it to the hospital. W passed his car seat challenge test in his new car seat, so Mila gifted the car seat to W. J was amazed and humbled that somebody would go to such extremes to help her. Mila Pugach is a very deserving recipient of the DAISY Award.

Thank you, Mila, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
