Now, Milan gave me a sense of identity.
Milan, one of my ICU nurses, was my lifeline to sanity after I woke from a week-long coma, and I never got to see him as my eyes and brain were not able to work together until I was a few days out of the ICU. Milan's conversations convinced me I was not being eaten by the bug people. Milan really heard what I was saying in our little talks because he resourced my friend on another island and let her know of my situation.
I had two doggies at the house that were probably getting purdy hungry, and I was still a ways from going home. This happened so fast I had no time to prepare and still cannot remember what happened that morning. During his touchy-feely inspection, Milan found a spot my kid looked for her whole childhood. A place I broke out in giggles when touched. Henceforth, Milan christened me "Mr. Giggles". Now, Milan gave me a sense of identity.
All the staff at the complex were above and at the highest of standards and I gratefully thank them. Milan is that one, in my life, that gave me a little more that put me on the right track to recovery. I will always be listening for that voice to finally be able to see his face.
