June 2022 Honoree
Milea Hunt, RN
My 53 year brother presented to the Emergency Room in need of acute psychiatric intervention. Milea quickly acknowledged his presence and mine and our needs. Milea gave me a hug and expressed understanding. Milea intervened when my brother needed redirection but made no judgment. Milea is a very kind and caring nurse. Milea put her heart into my brother's needs and supported me as a family member. Milea took time to listen and learn about the needs. I relayed to Milea a previous encounter with uncaring staff and my anxiety and reluctance to bring my brother to the Emergency Room. Milea was an answer to my prayers and gave a sense of safety. Milea is unique as you do not find many people who can provide unbiased professional care to people who suffer from mental illness in an acute state. Milea cares about her patients and is nonjudgmental and professional. She is the epitome of a TRUE nurse. I am a nurse and it is rare to find such well rounded qualities in nursing today, especially in the Emergency Room. Milea deserves to be recognized.
Thank you, Milea, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
