This week we spent at TGH, traveling from Sebring, with our uncle who has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. I couldn't leave and not inquire about how to recognize one of the nurses we benefited from... Miles Tatum.
We can't say enough compliments to express what a great nurse Miles was to our uncle in an extremely difficult time. My first encounter with Miles was over the phone when he came on shift and I was not at the hospital. After that first conversation, I knew that he was going to be exceptional as a nurse. He was polite, professional, and answered my many questions fully and with patience.
Once I was able to meet Miles, I was assured of my first impression formed from the phone call. When he didn't know the answer to a question, he went and found the answer quickly to share with us. He was attentive to not only the patient but us as family, too. We were facing a lot of testing, searching for an accurate diagnosis of the disease and Miles kept us informed of all doctors' orders, the procedures, and the timeframe.
Another great thing was that Miles dedicates himself to his patients by working 3 consecutive days, enabling us to keep some continuity in his care and procedures. As you can see, we cannot say enough about how wonderful Miles was and we sincerely appreciate everything he did for us and all the patient he cares for. He found his calling in life.
