Milly was extraordinary during the 3 days she cared for our child. She was calm, soothing, compassionate nurse. Her knowledge and ability to communicate clearly with us helped us to feel confident that our daughter had a nurse who was able to quickly identify any problems. She knew how to handle them and help us understand not only what was happening, but why. We felt comfortable and safe with Milly. She listened to our concerns and validated our feelings which were so important. Every parent wants to be heard and understood even if the team doesn't see the concerns from the same perspective. Milly helped us understand what the treatment plan for our child was and answered our questions fully. She never dismissed our concerns. She was a wonderful advocate for us and especially for our child while being professional and diplomatic. Knowledge can be taught, skills can be learned but Milly displayed a beautiful balance of knowledge, compassion, and empathy that is far more advanced than we usually see from a nurse who is just starting their career. I can only imagine where her skill level, knowledge, compassion and empathy will be when she's been nursing 20 years! Milly swabbed our daughter's lip before a doctor ordered it because she knew it needed to happen. She taught the patient how to be more comfortable getting in and out of bed while in pain. When someone is extraordinary, I like to recognize that and encourage the person. Milly is exceptional.
