Min epitomizes the values we strive to uphold: patients first, integrity, and excellence. Her impact extends far beyond one patient interaction, and she sets a powerful example for her colleagues.
It is with great admiration and gratitude that I nominate Min Greenwell for the DAISY Award. She is a shining example of compassion, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of her patients and the support of her colleagues.
Recently, Min demonstrated extraordinary care for a very ill patient who was experiencing significant barriers to communication due to language differences and severe psychiatric challenges. Despite the availability of translation services, the patient remained withdrawn and unresponsive until Min stepped in. Through empathy and genuine human connection, she was the first member of the nursing team to successfully communicate with him. She was able to gain his trust, understand his needs, and advocate for his care in a way that no one else had been able to do. She went above and beyond by staying late to ensure that his needs were met since he had been refusing care from anyone else. Her dedication didn’t end after her shift. She volunteered to remain available by phone throughout the night to assist staff with communication if the patient again struggled with the translator. Her actions reflect an unwavering commitment to both patient care and team support.
Min epitomizes the values we strive to uphold: patients first, integrity, and excellence. Her impact extends far beyond one patient interaction, and she sets a powerful example for her colleagues. Min is a dedicated patient advocate, a team player, and a quiet leader whose actions speak volumes.
