November 2024 Honoree
Mindi Flood, MSN, RN
Mindi was called to start a pre-op IV on a patient. The patient was stressed because of failed attempts to get the IV started. Mindi, as always, talked and treated the patient in a calming manner and gained her trust. Mindi was gentle and explained what she was doing and seeing on the ultrasound machine. The patient watched the screen and did not realize Mindi had the IV in the vein and secured. The patient was impressed and said how great Mindi was and that she would tell everyone. The patient told us she would return next week for another procedure and asked if Mindi could do her IV. Mindi told her she would. The day came, and Mindi walked into the room. The patient was so happy to see her that she yelled, “My friend," with a big smile. Mindi started her IV with ease, and the patient thanked her again. I work with Mindi, and this scenario is not the first time Mindi has been remembered and called upon to start IVs.
Thank you, Mindi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
