While performing a Dobutamine Stress Echo (DSE), Mindy quickly noted that her patient was experiencing adverse effects from the procedure. She immediately called for the cardiologist, instructed me to call 911, and had the Medical Assistant call the Emergency Room for notification. She took the time to calmly explain the urgency of the situation to the patient and assured that he understood and was comfortable. At the same time, she made certain that the patient's spouse was notified and informed of the emergency. Once EMS arrived, she provided a detailed verbal report and handed them pertinent medical documentation. Throughout the event, Mindy remained calm and collected. She thought of every possible detail that was important to the care and outcome of this patient's condition.
In addition, Mindy displayed great leadership while directing her team, demonstrated compassion while calmly talking with her patient, and assumed that the family was involved. Mindy undoubtedly exemplified excellence in her care of this patient as she does each day in her nursing practice. She is an outstanding role model and an exceptional nurse. In addition to her exceptional nursing care, Mindy consistently shows a true dedication and passion for our patients and clinics.
During Hurricane Harvey, despite the clinic being closed, Mindy knew the importance of taking care of our patients. After clearance from BOF, she came into the clinic without hesitation. With only a small group of staff, she began working the in-basket for not only her clinic but all her sister clinics in Angleton. Not only did this help address the growing needs of the in-basket, but it provided our patients with answers and resolutions to their questions and concerns. Best care, despite the circumstance.
