I wanted to write you and let you know how thankful I am I met Mindy last year! My daughter just turned 1 in March, and I was getting sentimental about how fast the time had flown by and having a hard time believing she was almost 1. It took us years to get pregnant and we had quite a tough time along the way, and our daughter is the best gift we have ever been given. We are forever grateful to our L&D nurse and to Mindy for making our Rideout stay feel warm. When A was a day old Mindy came in our room to help us with latching etc... And had an unbelievably calm, reassuring bedside manner. I still remember her changing A’s diaper and thinking how sweet of her that was. I truly believe she was made to be a lactation consultant and it’s so nice to interact with someone, especially as a patient and first-time Mom who is very passionate about helping you and your baby. When she was in our room, she told us about the Wednesday breastfeeding support group and my immediate response was in a nutshell thank you, but no thank you. In my ignorant 17th hour of motherhood, I didn’t plan to nurse in public basically ever!

I was struggling a lot at home and when she was 2 or 3 weeks old, I finally decided I needed to take her to the Wednesday group to get help. That was by far one of the best decisions I have made since being a mom. I had so much anxiety leading up to the first time I went and now I am so thankful I did, and I know it really changed the course for the better. I didn’t expect what a mark her group would have on my experience throughout her first year. I don’t know how long I would have made it breastfeeding if it wasn’t for Mindy! Aside from being passionate about breastfeeding, it’s very apparent she also genuinely loves her job and the babies, and that part is quite special. A adores seeing Mindy and it’s very neat now that she has known her since day 1. As A is getting older it’s not practical for us to go much longer to the group, and I will truly miss the special atmosphere Mindy has created in that room weekly. Thank you for providing that group for the community and for having Mindy run it.
