Mindy Xu was our PACU nurse while our daughter was recovering from ankle surgery. Mindy was great with all of her care but the reason for this special thanks was her steadfast advocacy that went above and beyond.

We were waiting for the block team to administer anesthesia for the operative leg. After a long delay we heard that they might not come at all and we were upset. Instead of being defensive, Mindy called the team over and over and eventually called the attending, which led to the block team coming and administering the anesthesia.

Mindy really put the patient first! She was also a pleasure to work with and went out of her way to make sure we understood the discharge instructions - which is so key to a good recovery. NYU and its patients are lucky to have her!
