Miranda identified a life-threatening injury in a Pediatric patient in the ER. She quickly figured out that the presenting complaint from EMS did not match the child's clinical appearance. When Miranda did her head-to-toe assessment she realized the patient had a hole in his back. She immediately notified the physician, a Trauma Alert was called, and the patient was transferred. Miranda realizing this was a GSW, pulled the team together and life-saving measures were taken in the room. Without Miranda doing her full assessment, the outcome would have been very different.
