Although our family's stay at UPMC Hamot is far from over, Miranda has been there for us our entire stay. My father was admitted to the TNICU on a Thursday afternoon. Friday morning Miranda was there to take care of both him and us. She not only showed exceptional nursing skills in taking care of him, she made our family feel optimistic and hopeful. Miranda has been very compassionate and understanding of our situation. While working with my dad she made it a priority to explain things to us so that we understood the why, what and how. Even when Miranda was not assigned to Dad she made it a priority to seek our family out and not only ask how he was doing, but how we were doing. During dad's stay, my mom was admitted for a 3 day chemo treatment. Lucky for us, she was also here at UPMC Hamot. Miranda went out of her way to find it possible to get approval to let mom visit dad while she was a patient.
Although Miranda's days off from work disappointed us because she was not there, we counted the days until she would be back. Most importantly for dad, but also for us, too.
Miranda absolutely demonstrates the core attributes of a UPMC Hamot nurse, but bottom line... she was there for all of us in a way that could never be explained on paper.
Thank you Miranda.
