December 2022 Honoree
Miriam Blomberg, RN
After cutting myself badly with a chainsaw, I was recently a patient in the SICU for 5 days and was fortunate to have Miriam assigned to me for several days of my stay. First – let me say that I was not an “easy” patient – I am a Medical Device executive with over 20 years of experience and a former EMT. I was talkative, confused, and in a lot of pain – not knowing if I would regain the use of my hand. Miriam had to wake me up hourly to assess the skin temps in my fingers, and she was incredibly kind as I became ruder and sleep deprived! She also helped me with the significant PTSD I experienced from just holding my hand and wiping my tears, to arranging for the Chaplain and therapy dogs. You have a famous reputation for world-class trauma care, but the extra love for patients sets Miriam apart from her peers.
Thank you, Miriam, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
