I was not aware of the events, but I could see the commitment and compassion Miriam had that was on full display.
I was up on the 3rd floor speaking with various Provider/Nurse Teams addressing any concerns I could assist with. On this occasion, Miriam informed me of a particularly challenging Veteran with a controlled substance medication concern, and establishing care in a very remote area in another state. After our conversation I reached out to the Veteran to address. It was not without Miriam that I would have been informed and provide additional help.
A second occurrence happened. Miriam was speaking with a Veteran and their Spouse. I was not aware of the events, but I could see the commitment and compassion Miriam had that was on full display. The Veteran and Spouse were already gone, however I spoke with Miriam and assured me to send details so I could follow-up with the Veteran to assist. This Veteran had multiple challenges to include Primary Care and Office of Community Care. My compliments of course are to Miriam and the principles that are on full display: Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. It appears that regardless of the occasion, Miriam is 100% determined and fully invested in doing what is possible for our Veteran population. The ICARE principles that Miriam has put on display should be a model for all to follow. I am proud we are on the same team. Miriam, thank you as well for your Empathy, Dedication, and Professionalism, it is contagious!
