The Nursing Supervisor Team would like to nominate the Float Pool for the DAISY Team Award. The RNs, NAs, Clinical Support RNs, PCAs, nursing service aides, and Avasys Team continuously exemplify the CARE values and the mission to deliver health with care. The entire team is committed to delivering cohesive and compassionate care throughout the organization. The nurses on the team offer a wide variety of expertise, flexibility, and leadership and will often act as charge nurses and preceptors while frequently mentoring novice staff members. They float through the hospital, emergency department, and holding areas, often multiple times a shift, to help alleviate the increase in capacity, facilitate flow, support the staff RNs, and provide excellent patient care. The Float Pool RNs are a group dedicated to Professional Development and have certifications in medical-surgical nursing, emergency nursing, pain management, and gerontology. They are also heavily involved in hospital committees, including Evidence-Based Practice, Unit Council Steering, Professional Development Council, Fall Committee, and Green Team Members. The clinical support nurses provide direct patient care, educate staff, and are essential members of the nursing supervisor team to help escalate care and mitigate concerns. The nursing service aides are critical members of our team, ensuring the staff on the off shift have all essential equipment and supplies, help with patient transport, and appropriate allocation of resources. The nursing assistants and patient care attendants are always willing to do whatever is needed of them, whether it is taking a patient assignment on the floors, sitting with a patient in need, alleviating breaks for others, operationalizing the discharge hospitality lounge to facilitate patients throughout, or performing audits for hand hygiene. The Avasys Team is an imperative part of patient care, not only internally but system-wide, as they also provide monitoring/care to patients at Newport Hospital. The Float Pool is guided by their excellent leadership from their co-managers and assistant managers, who are pivotal in the growth and resilience of their staff. They are truly the backbone of the hospital. We are extremely grateful to them for being in the nursing supervisor's office. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.
