Miriam “Mim” Bates, RN

I am 86 years old and accustomed to feeling in control. When I needed triple bypass surgery at UF Health Leesburg Hospital, my anxiety was through the roof! Enter my CV unit night nurse, Mim. She immediately sensed my unease and was so comforting, positive, and supportive when I needed it most. She made me feel reassured that all would go well. After my surgery, I returned to the CV unit and Mim was waiting at my door with a smile. Even on the nights when she wasn’t assigned to me, she continued to check in with me before and after her shift. Nurse Bates is a credit to her profession and is well deserving of the DAISY Award!
