I had surgery at the Urology Clinic at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center. After the surgery was completed, I was sent to the PeriOp Department for a period of recovery. It is about this experience that I want to talk to you.
While at the PeriOp Department, I was in the care of Ms. Mirka Nedbal. My experience while in her care could not have been better. Mirka took care not only of my condition but was also instrumental in teaching my wife, who was with me all the time, how to use some implements that I was supposed to use at home to help in my recovery.
I am sure that Mirka followed the protocols involved in my post-operative care. But she went totally beyond that, as she did everything with a warm attitude, a total command of her skills, and attended my needs in an extremely humane manner, showing at all times that her purpose was to make me feel well at a time when I was beginning to feel pretty sick, with the effects of sedation were starting to wear off. Mirka's understanding and commitment are something about which I feel very grateful. She took care of my pains, reassuring me all the time that everything was all right. Mirka also asked me about my recent medical history to make sure that what she was doing was in accordance with accepted protocols with not only my discomfort but emotional support as well.
All of the above prompts me to say that Mirka is an impressive asset to your medical team. Her skills and humane attributes should not go unnoticed and should be the basis for making sure that she receives the respect and congratulations of her peers and the medical community she works for. She certainly has my admiration for her sense of service.
