Misty colored with her and got all the staff together to participate in a Justin Beiber dance party.
Misty cared for a patient with a mental disability who was on a 1:1 for behavior and elopement issues. She required a security guard and sedatives. Misty took the time to talk to the patient and ask about her interests. She found the patient liked to color and loved Justin Beiber. So Misty colored with her and got all the staff together to participate in a Justin Beiber dance party. After that, the patient was pleasant, cooperative, and calm so when the MAT team interviewed her, she was easily placed and accepted. Sometimes just taking the time and talking with patients with special needs is a lot better than meds.
