A patient's husband nominated Misty for saving her life during a routine, post-hospital discharge follow-up call. Misty noted the patient's speech became slurred and mumbled. Misty was able to notify EMS while keeping the patient on the phone. When EMS arrived, the patient was experiencing facial droop and unilateral flaccidness. The patient was transported immediately to the hospital and underwent an urgent procedure to stop the stroke. The patient's husband credits Misty for intervening and ensuring the patient received the needed escalation in emergency care, which in turn saved her life.
