Please join HRMC in congratulating Misty Petersen, RN, for being honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses!
Misty is an RN in the Emergency Department at Havasu Regional Medical Center. One of the patients who nominated her shared the following:
“I was recently a patient in the emergency room on one of the worst days of my life. I had a severe corneal abrasion. My eyes were swollen shut, and any light was excruciatingly painful. Most of the day, I spent silently in unbearable pain and in fear of losing my sight, and with it, my ability to be a nurse myself.
That is when this nurse came on shift. She came in and introduced herself, and I immediately relaxed. She made me feel cared for and safe. She placed me on the monitors, obtained vitals, and administered medication that numbed my eye—thank you! She cleaned my eyes to try and save my vision. While these may be routine nursing tasks, she prioritized my care and helped me relax.
She continued to round on me with compassion and respect for my level of pain and was a fantastic nurse, not only to me but to her other patients as well. I heard her giving excellent discharge education to the room next door, answering phones, being a team lead in the ED, and still being a fantastic nurse with a personal touch. You are terrific. I will forever be grateful for your compassion and thorough nursing.”
Congratulations, Misty, on this well-deserved recognition! Your professionalism, compassion, and dedication truly embody what it means to be a DAISY Nurse.
