As I made daily patient rounds, I rounded on a Labor & Delivery patient and all was well. As it turned out, later that night this patient developed a prolapsed cord and a stat C-section was called for. There was no time for anesthesia. When I rounded the next day, the mother told me how scared they were. She said there was one nurse, Mitzi Newberry, who was holding her hand and in her face, encouraging her all the way. This was a critical event and Mitzi made the difference for this patient. The patient said she would remember her impact forever. Great job, Mitzi!
