Miyah Chambers, RN

Miyah is a young but truly exceptional night nurse. At a time when I could do very little for myself, she offered her own two hands without hesitation-cleaning me, turning me, lifting me in bed-never once showing impatience or weariness, even though I felt I was asking so much. As I came to know her, I learned she had spent time in and out of the hospital. I believe that is part of what made her so remarkable-that she had been the patient, and she carried that empathy into every interaction. She knew how it felt to need help, and she made sure her patients never felt ashamed for needing it. This experience of being a patient myself has been profoundly humbling, especially as a fellow RN. I hope I can keep this feeling that I have now in my heart and use it like Miyah does to be an asset to my patients. I loved having Miyah as my nurse and want her to know her acts of compassion and kindness will be given back to her a hundredfold.
