Mollie Fox, RN

From the very beginning, Mollie showed extraordinary compassion and awareness—not only for G, but for me, his wife, too. The first time she met me, outside of the Chapel, she immediately sensed that I was struggling. Mollie took the time to gently encourage me to care for myself, too, suggesting I step away to run errands or take a brief break outside the hospital. That small but meaningful act made me feel seen, supported, and reminded me that caregivers need care too.

Mollie provided G with exceptional nursing care, balancing professionalism, skill, and heart. When his blood pressure dropped to concerning levels, it was clear she took the situation seriously. While understandably nervous, Mollie immediately moved into action—calm, focused, and thorough. She ensured G’s safety by responding promptly and involving her peers when appropriate to confirm she was doing everything possible for his well-being. Her teamwork and clinical judgment gave me confidence and reassurance during a very stressful moment.

What truly sets Mollie apart is her soft heart and deep commitment to knowing her patients as people. She took time to learn who G was beyond his diagnosis, finding thoughtful ways to lift his spirits and bring him comfort. She used lavender to help lift his mood and advocated moving him to a larger room with big windows, knowing he desperately needed a change of scenery. That decision noticeably improved his outlook and emotional health.

Even when Mollie was not assigned to G’s care, she consistently stopped by, poking her head in, offering a warm smile, and saying hello. Those moments of connection mattered more than she may ever know. Mollie’s compassion, attentiveness, and dedication exemplify the very best of nursing and reflect what the DAISY Award stands for. Her care made an unforgettable impact on our family and brought comfort, dignity, and light during an incredibly difficult time.
