Our daughter recently had her VNS battery replaced (again). She was hungry and having a rough time. She kept telling the nurses she wanted a flower tattoo like mine. I have their birth flowers on my shoulder. She came out of surgery with the most perfect Band-Aid “tattoo.” It made her day! She was showing it off to everyone, and let me tell you, it was gorgeous. I actually asked Molly if I could get it as a tattoo. I cried tears when I saw it. My daughter was diagnosed with Dravet at 13 months. Her first seizure was at 7 months. She’s had more surgeries than most adults, and this was the best one yet! Molly touched a place in my heart, and I’ll never forget her! We did not get to meet Molly as she was in the OR. If we can ever have the chance, we would love to thank her in person. I will now always carry a piece of that day with me. Watching your baby struggle and handing her over to strangers is hard….even after multiple surgeries. It does not get any easier. However, Molly’s gesture was the bright spot in our day. That “tattoo” turned our rough day around!
