June 2026 Honoree
Molly Marquart, RN
Molly had just finished working a night shift at the Hospital. She had not originally been scheduled to work that night but had picked up the shift to help cover hours for another coworker.
After her shift, Molly stopped at Meijer in Benton Harbor to get groceries. While shopping, she noticed a gentleman had collapsed. Without hesitation, she rushed to help and quickly recognized that he was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Molly immediately began CPR, called for help, and completed multiple rounds of CPR while operating the AED until police and EMS arrived.
By the time the patient was transported to the Corewell Health Lakeland Emergency Department, return of spontaneous circulation had been achieved, and he was admitted to the ICU. In addition to providing immediate lifesaving care, Molly also offered comfort and support to the patient’s wife, who was with him.
Had Molly not been there and taken immediate action, the outcome may have been very different. Her actions are a powerful example of the compassion, skill, and dedication our nurses bring to the community—even when they are off the clock.
