It is with heartfelt pleasure that I am nominating Molly Murch, RN-BSN for the DAISY Award. As a thyroid cancer patient diagnosed in July of this year, Molly has been instrumental in guiding me through the pre- and post-surgery process. She is one of the most positive, up-beat, personable, kind, and compassionate nurses I have had the good fortune to have caring for me.
Molly displays the qualities of exceptional service in nursing. From the first meeting with her, as well as subsequent meetings and messaging, Molly has consistently displayed an unprecedented level of professionalism and care. For example, when first meeting with Molly, she instantly put my husband and me at ease with her personality. She is very positive, and explained in detail the procedure I was going to have, adding her confidence in Dr. T (who was my surgeon- and she is right, he is very good at what he does). Molly presented me and my husband with facts and options, doing so in a very caring and compassionate way. She is very empathetic with her patients and has the ability to present information clearly and understandably. At no point did we feel overwhelmed or misinformed, and Molly encouraged us to call or message her anytime with questions or concerns.
Since my surgery there have been a number of times where we have contacted Molly through My Sanford Chart. Molly has returned my messages within minutes, always answering my questions and providing encouragement. At my last appointment with Dr. T, Molly was in the room as I was having a procedure done to remove stitches that did not dissolve. Her attitude was so uplifting and reassuring, and she even offered to hold my hand through the process. I found that to be such a genuine and heartfelt act of kindness on her part.
Sanford Health is blessed to have Molly Murch as an employee. Her expertise in her field, combined with her compassion and genuine care for others is something to be celebrated. Molly is one-in-a-million.
