I am a newly diagnosed gestational diabetic. When Mona was done with my new consult, I asked her for info on gestational diabetes. She spent at least 30 minutes out of her busy day to educate me. She even went back to her office for printed information for me. I refer to that information multiple times a day to verify that my meals are balanced.
Mona went above and beyond to help a freaked out pregnant nurse. She made meal plannings and carbohydrate counting seem manageable and not so scary. She was so very kind to me. I didn't feel rushed and could ask her multiple questions without feeling I was a burden.
I was able to educate my husband on my diet and the need to change our eating habits. Mona's education took my husband's anxiety level from a 10 to a 2. I can't thank her enough. Hopefully, my baby boy's birth weight will be normal without hypoglycemia, and it's all due to an outstanding nurse!
Mona is an invaluable member of our diabetes education team. From the moment Mona arrives in the morning until she leaves for the day she always has a smile on her face. Everyone loves Mona. She lives the Providence values of compassion and excellence every day. Mona has a big heart and a wealth of knowledge. She interacts with patients and co-workers with kindness, respect, and dignity.
