Not only does she take actions that are aimed at enhancing the well-being of vulnerable patients, but she renders care that is holistic, nurturing the spirit, body and mind.
My nominee for The DAISY Award typifies the essence of professional nursing practice. She has demonstrated the values and principles of nursing in tandem with the organization’s mission statement. Not only does she take actions that are aimed at enhancing the well-being of vulnerable patients, but she renders care that is holistic, nurturing the spirit, body and mind. One particular instance, was when a patient called, feeling thankful for having the nurse assigned to her. She went on to say how caring and compassionate she was, and how the physician was not sure, how to better treat her chronic wounds due to cancer and comorbidities. Mona immediately reached out to the physician and IDT, including wound support and was able to coordinate services that enhanced this patient’s outcomes. Mona inclines towards evidence-based practice in an effort to obtain the most positive results in her clients, advocates for her clients on wellness, by collaborating with individual patients and their families, to foster communication regarding the best possible quality of life. The most unique characteristic of Mona is that she delivers care in a compassionate manner, while embracing ethnic and cultural diversity of clients and their families. In conclusion, Mona deserves this award based on the high quality and compassionate nursing services she offers patients, and their families. Moreover, she is always willing to share her knowledge with others around her.
